Everyone Denies Torture

In the immediate aftermath of 9/11 key officials in the United States and England boasted we would not leave any stone unturned in bringing to justice the evil ones who had committed murder. Don Rumsfeld used to mock charges of torture by insisting he spent hours on his feet so why shouldn’t prisoners. Former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf told the media his intelligence did torture people and, it was his assumption when they brutalized citizens of the United Kingdom it was with the approval of the British intelligence agency, M15. Years have passed, people have gotten religion about torture and now no one knows anything about such procedures. Former M15 head, Baroness Manningham-Buller emphasizes no “blind eye had been turned ” when Pakistan interrogators had a turn at questioning UK prisoners in their country. A spokesperson for the agency says, “we are not and have not been complicit in torture.”

In the meantime, Musharraf points out he was never informed by any British official that he should not resort to torture when “questioning” one of their citizens. As far as he recalls, it was OK to waterboard or do whatever since it was in the name of bringing democracy to the world. And, what better way to accomplish that goal than tearing out a few finger nails?
