Fantasy In Iranland

There are times when it is clear how divorced Iranian leaders are from the world in which they live. The UN is now into its fourth round of imposing sanctions due to refusal on the part of the Iranian government to seriously engage in negotiations. But, President Ahmadinejad sees the world through a different lens. He dismissed Foreign Minister Manoucher Mottaki because of failure to halt UN sanctions. In other words, Ahmadinejad refuses to negotiate in good faith, he sends a lackey to convey the message and when no one believes a word being spoken by Mottaki about desire to negotiate, the president fires the foreign minister.

Iranian policy is set by Ayatollah Khamenei and President Ahmadinejad. Perhaps, if they fired themselves, there might be an end to sanctions. But, to take such action would require living in the world of reality.
