There have been female members of the United States military for over half a century, but wars in Afghanistan and Iraq are the first time in which thousands of females were exposed to being in the front lines. There currently are 214 females in the armed forces and over 240,000 have been deployed to operational theaters since 2001. For the first time there are new research studies dealing with homelessness for female veterans, post traumatic stress disorder and how the VA handles females.
A recent study indicates most female veterans are pleased with treatment in VA facilities. However, there is increasing evidence that female veterans are less likely to be diagnosed with PTSD than male veterans. However, a higher percent are being classified with depression symptoms.
George Bush will go down in history as the first president who screwed up the lives of thousands of American females.
