You can not have it both ways. On one hand, you refer to “the integrity of people’s cultures” which is an encompassing term. You do not say, “the integrity of Finnish culture.” People in Finland or China today have their “culture” influenced by world wide trends. Music, dress, attitudes, food, etc.. are being altered by world wide influences. I assume so is Finnish culture.
I was writing about the desire of EDUCATED immigrants to be productive members of Finnish society, and that does not please you!
I’m sorry if you feel insulted, but there is no evidence, despite having a Ph.D., you have a grasp on the dynamics of cultural change. For example, when Indonesia was fighting for its independence from the Dutch, its leaders continually referred to Jefferson’s Declaration of Independence.–cultural influence? After the end of the Nigerian civil war in the 1960s, the leader of the victorious group, referred to Lincoln’s treatment of the South– cultural influence? The American invention of the Supreme Court has spread throughout the world and the Supreme Court of India has several times referred to US decisions. God, you are a Ph.D in political science!

American “culture,” as you must know, is the result of many cultures. From day one of the American experience in the New World, there were diverse cultures. Even such things as the “covered wagon” or the “log cabin” did NOT come from English culture. You may have a Ph.D, but you apparently are unaware of the diversity of the early Americans and the continued incorporation of values, traditions, etc.. Examine “American literature” which was impacted by Jews or “humor” which was impacted by the Irish and Jews. Scot-Irish(not English) shaped music as did the slaves. There is no such thing as “integrity” of the American culture, it is constantly changing. Indian immigrants have helped change our Internet culture.
If you are a “liberal,” then what is a bigot?

I guess you do not believe in borders or the integrity of people’s cultures. As an American political liberal trained in the social sciences (Ph.D.) I do.

Not hiring foreigners is not bigotry. Wishing Finnish culture to be changed IS bigotry.
Finland should perhaps stop providing free education for foreigners. Social discord and distress have increased as the foreign population has increased.
