Michele Bachmann signed a pledge developed by Family Leader, a rather conservative organization, but she finally indicated a slight disagreement with one piece of the pledge. The Pledge stated: “Slavery had a disastrous impact on African American families, yet sadly, a child born into slavery in 1860 was more likely to be raised by his mother and father in a two parent household than an African American child born after the United States first African American president.” Michele wants the world to know she definitely is against slavery. Of course, this is somewhat confusing since previously, she indicated the Founding Fathers abolished slavery. I have read a few books about slavery in the South and historians simply have a somewhat different take on slavery. If you watch African American basketball players you will note the difference in skin color, ranging from very black to rather white. Michele, believe it or not but in those “two parent household,” one of the parents was all too often raped.
Oh, The Family Leader wants America to know that its comments concerning slavery were “misconstrued.” Ah, the liberal media, they print what conservatives say which is certainly the easiest way to misconstrue something.
