Nicholas Sarkozy represents a harder, less compromising kind of right wing than his predecessor, Chirac. Sarkozy promised to cut taxes, curb trade unions and also to restore “moral values.” Ironically, his wife left him during the campaign and wasn’t even with him when he votled.
In his victory speech, Sarkozy said he would be “President of all the French people” and would govern “in a spirit of inclusion so that everyone feels that they have the same chances as everyone else.” It appears that one in five voters abstained or voted blank. It appears there are two Sarkozys, the reformer and the ranter.

I think we Americans know all about a two faced president who claims to have moral values.
