French, Mali, US

Once again, the United States of America faces the prospect for more fighting, more war, more casualties. French forces have moved into Mali in order to protect the government against al-Qaida groups which have allied with Muslim militants to gain control of northern areas and now are moving south toward the capital. It appears some US planes might be engaged in flight operations to support French ground forces. However, the French government is angry at refusal to provide further air support and possibly send in the drones.

At least three American civilians died in the militant attack on gas facilities. President Obama once again has to decide whether the US military plays a role in fighting militants. This occurs as the last US troops have left Iraq and negotiations are occurring concerning the last American troops to leave Afghanistan. Does America stay in the Middle East or does it go and not return?
