A group of American soldiers in Afghanistan received plea for help from an officer in the Army of Afghanistan. He said the checkpoint was under Taliban fire and he needed assistance. US soldier rushed to the scene and as they came toward the officer, he took out a rifle and killed four while wounding three. It turned out that six of the fifteen officers at this checkpoint had already fled–most probably to join the Taliban.
The obvious question is why are Afghan soldiers turning their weapons on their allies rather than the enemy. So far this year about 50 US and NATO soldiers have died at the hands of their allies. The people of Afghanistan do not trust their government, they do not believe their government represents their interests and regards those in government as corrupt individuals.
That is why Afghans are turning their weapons on those allied with the government they do not trust!
