Gay Times In Virginia

Once upon a time the state of Virginia was inhabited by real red blooded Americans who defended the rights of this nation and even went to war to gain our independence. Alas, times have changed along with who now lives in the state of Virginia. Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring came out publicly to make clear that from now on his state will conduct itself in the spirit of equal rights for all who live within its boundaries. He announced that from now on, “as Attorney General, I cannot and will not defend laws that violate Virginians’ rights.” And, by the word, “rights” Herring is referring to the right of gays and lesbians to become married folk. “The Commonwealth will be siding with the plaintiffs in this case(a suit by two gays to be allowed to marry) and with every other Virginia couple whose right to marry is being denied.”

In 1954, the Attorney General of the state of Virginia took the side of plaintiffs who argued the Supreme Court decision in Brown vs Board of Education took away their right to have white children go to school only with white children. How times have changed in the state of Virginia!
