Gaza Rockets Fall On Israel, Israel Bombs Fall On Gaza

Israel prime Minister Ehud Olmeert vowed there will be an end to Kassam rocket fire from gaza or else. “We are not looking to fight in the Gaza Strip, we do not want to harm its residents and we have no special desire to kill any citizen. But, we will not and we cannot continue to suffere the endless Kassam rocket fire on cititizens of the st ate of Israel.” Foreign Minister Tzipi Livi argued Israel could defend its citizens not only through negotiations but by means of “uncompromising war” against Palestine attacks from Gaza. Earlier yesterday, Vice Premier Haim Ramon claimed Israel military action was beginning to have an impact and that Hamas leaders were now more interested in negotiations. A senior Hamas official was quoted by Israel radio on Wednesday as indicating a desire on the part of the Hamas government of Ismail Haniyeh to halt Kassem rocket fire.

A continual mistake on the part of Israel and other nations is failure to engage Hamas in a dialogue. The demand that all terrorist activity should cease prior to talks makes no sense. Once people are engaged in discussions they are more prone to consider the effect of ending terrorist activities. When all is said and done, Hamas does need to become part of a political process if it is to survive. The people of Gaza need some peace and that will only occur if Hamas talks with Israeli and Palestinian leaders.

why is that considered a mistake?!
gaza was ”occupied” israel ripped its social balance and evacuated thousands and they still suffer to this day.instead of having a calm border and negotiations. hamas which had control over government (meaning all the possibility’s to talk, offer negotiations, make demands, engages processes) in a political coup against their own brothers took control of gaza in a bloodbath.
now that same area we evacuated is the base for rocket fire on a DAILY basis! talk?! wat talk?!
go tell to a mother in sderot who can’t send her child to school without being worried sick, can’t sleep, lives according to the alarm and bomb shelters, and this for over 5 years !!!
tell her to talk to those bloodthirsty terrorists! who have always confirmed they will never stop fighting and at best will give a ”hudna” to replenish for the next round……..
go spend a week in sderot and then give the talk about talking.
a well known truth u should contemplate fred:
those who have mercy for cruels will end up being cruels on the merciful….

btw u like negotiations? look we talked to the PA in 2000 the israelis was ready to give in on EVERYTHING result? violence
why? because dialogue is used as much as a weapon as rockets and suicide bombers for palestinians
    not as an ALTERNATIVE
when arafat saw the limit of what israelis could give him he got greedy and decided to throw some violence in and let it cook before restarting negotiations again! and asking more.
HAMAS is even more bluntly clear about it’s goal:destroy israel and shariah they calculated talk is a bad return these days…they let abbas do it and comdemn him and rip the ”we told you” of the sure failure to come

OK. We agree Hamas is a violent group. What exactly is your solution? Do you want Israel to occupy Gaza and take responsibility for administering millions of more Arabs? To put it bluntly, there are two basic ways to end the rocket attacks, (1) Hamas exerts pressure to make them cease, (2) Israel occupies Gaza. I’d prefer getting Hamas to handle the problem. I am so tired of people saying don’t negotiate with Hamas without offering any other solution than attacking and killing people in Gaza.
