One is not ordinarly aware that Russian President Vladimir Putin can utter words of wisdom and calm a dispute, but believe it or not, the man who knows all, finally made sense. Putin said the Russian government had not yet delivered its sophisticated S-3000 missiles to Syria which would have provided President Assad a tough and accurate defense system against air attacks. “The contract was signed several years ago. It has not been realized yet.” He went on to add, “we do not want to upset the balance in the region.” Perhaps, he was responding to pleas by Israel Prime Minister Netanyahu who, most probably warned of the possibility that Israel would attack Syria.
We, once again, are on one of those brinks when no one knows what awaits us in the future. Hopefully, Putin does not take the road to war.
