Thousands of Iranian students marched for their rights in demonstrations around the country. It was a day to show the world the voices of freedom and democracy will not remain silent in Iran despite efforts to still their words by security and police forces. As students filled the streets near Tehran University, police and the infamous Basij militia charged them with batons swirlin in the air only to come down on the backs and heads of the brave young people. Mir Hossein Mousavi also expressed the sentiment of many by teling the world, “A great nation would not stay silent when some confiscate its vote.”
The brave must always endure physical and mental abuse. Iran’s youth have our support even though it can only be some words. Hopefully, in the coming years they will be able to enjoy rights of free speech and assembly.
