It is now over a decade since the United States of America established a prison for those captured in fighting either in Afghanistan or Iraq. It is now over a decade since the American people placed in jail those accused of crimes during a war. There is no precedence in the entire history of this nation for imprisoning those captured in battle for over a decade. These “terrorists” are charged with crimes. Of course, many of these men were tortured in order to extract “confessions.” There is no doubt many ARE men who committed the crime of hating the United States.
The concept of a “crime against humanity” under which Nazi leaders were tried by an international court is that the individual killed innocent people in barbarous ways. If these men are guilty of such crimes they should be placed on trial. After ten years and no trial the only ones now considered to violate international law are those who will not try alleged criminals.
