A proposal by several Republican and Democratic senators would make October 7 as “Operation Enduring Freedom Veterans Day.” They want to honor those who have fought in Afghanistan. It is a wonderful idea to honor those who have fought for this nation, but singling out Afghanistan opens a Pandora’s box of veterans. As a veteran of the Korean War which actually DID preserve freedom for the people of South Korea, how come we don’t get a day?
Sorry, the botched, flawed, disastrous war in Afghanistan has NOT protected or extended or done anything to bring freedom to the people of Afghanistan. It was a mess from day one due to President George Bush and the two clowns–Rumsfeld and Cheney who had absolutely no idea how to extend freedom anywhere in the world.
