I fully confess my lack of knowledge regarding the Muslim religion. During the course of my life, I have worked with Muslims, went out to eat with them and visited their homes. But, I never went beyond a token study of the Muslim religion during my historical career. I know a few basic ideas, but am unable to delve into the intricate facets of the religion. A woman has just completed her “trial” in Khartoum in the nation of Sudan. She apparently was raised as a Muslim, and at some point decided she wanted to be a Christian. As far as I am concerned, whatever religion a person adopts is a matter of their concern and that of God. Judge Abbas Mohammed Al-Khalia apparently regards himself as acting in the role of God. He informed the woman: “We gave you three days to recant, but you insist on not returning to Islam. I sentence you to be hanged to death.”
Meriam Yahia Ibrahim Ishag responded: “I am a Christian and I never committed apostasy.” Oh, she also will receive 100 lashes for adultery prior to being executed. I do not have a doubt in my mind which of these two Humans will receive a big hug from God.
