Jimmy Mubenga was ordered back to his native land of Angola by the British Home Office, placed on a flight, and supposedly that was the end of the matter. According to G4S, a private security firm, which has been contracted by the Home Office to handle deportation cases, Mr. Mubenga “became unwell,” and somehow this led to his unfortunate death. However, according to a passenger who was sitting in the same row, Mr. Mubenga was seized by the three security people, and they held him down. The passenger heard Mr. Mubenga repeatedly say, “I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe,” and eventually he could not– he was dead.
The Home Office insists Mubenga died of natural causes because they were told so by G4S. Passengers say he was in handcuffs, and being guarded by three men. The only thing agreed upon is that Jimmy Mubenga is dead.
