I, along with millions of men and women served in the United States armed forces where we learned how to use weapons of war. Actually, I was an above average rifleman and was urged to become a sniper. My sergeant persuaded me not to pursue that line of fighting since snipers are in dangerous places on the battlefield. Thus, my confusion reading about men and women who so love their rifle or handgun or whatever. A weapon only makes sense if you are in combat, but why would anyone in his right mind desire to carry around a gun? Ronald William Prestage, current President of National Pork Producers decided to carry a gun into the Rayburn Office building in Washington D.C. Perhaps, he was disturbed about the pork bills sifting through Congress as our representatives attempt to get goodies for people in their district–or people who donate money for the pork. Oh, he does have a permit for a concealed weapon in the state of South Carolina. Sorry, as of this moment, that is not recognized in the District of Columbia. I am certain Justice Scalia will rule that people have a right to enter Congressional buildings with guns!
A few days ago, the press secretary for Republican Congressman Tom Marino, Ryan Shucart, was halted as he attempted to enter the Rayburn Building with a loaded gun. What goes on with these nut cases? Why a gun in the Rayburn Building? Of course, perhaps, Mr. Shucart is getting bored with the inaction of Congress and seeks a bit of excitement?
