Nine years have passed since President George Bush frightened the world with fantasy stories about WMD poised to strike at New York or Washington D.C. unless American troops could invade Iraq and save the world from mass destruction. George, those were the good days when you stood on the deck of an aircraft carrier to announce, “Mission Accomplished.” Actually, George was right, the mission was accomplished. I realize nit pickers will point out instead of the mission being complete in 2003 it was not until 2011 that it was. Or is it?
The bottom line, as any Republican knows, is that Republicans begin wars and unless Democrats finish them up within ninety days, it then becomes “their war.” President Obama made it official by announcing the last American troops will be out of Iraq by the end of the year. He was unable to agree with Iraq demands that any personnel remaining in their nation would be subject to Iraq law. Frankly, no one in Washington D.C. wants to handle the prospect of an American soldier being charged under Sharia law.
So, good bye, good luck, and we don’t want to know anything about you–at least for another twenty-five years.
