The era of George Bush was characterized by imprisoning innocent people on suspicion they were terrorists, and after a year of Barack Obama, we have not cleared up many aspects of the Bush administration. Ibrahim Jassam Mohammed was finally freed from US custody after being held for a year and a half by American authorities in Iraq. As of this date, no charges have been filed against the Reuters photographer who provides film and photos to a prestigious organization. David Schlesinger of Reuters expressed his frustration at having a photographer in jail for over a year without any charges being filed, “I wish the process to release a man who had no specific accusations against him had been swifter.”
Isn’t it wonderful we live in the era of Barack Obama, who used to be a constitutional lawyer.
