Ron Paul for years has been touted as a “real American” by those of the conservative persuasion. He is “against the government,” he is for defending the rights of “real Americans” to do as they damn well please, and, above all, he does not like or agree with the black dude who was born in Africa and for some strange reason got elected as president of this wonderful nation. A few days ago, Chris Kyle, author of “American Sniper” and a friend were at a shooting range when another friend shot both to death. Ron Paul then tweeted, “seems to confirm that he who lives by the sword dies by the sword. Treating PTSD at a firing range doesn’t make sense.”
Gun right defenders are furious at this comment. It appears to suggest that people should be careful with whom they share a gun experience and indicates that people, not guns kill folk. Dakota Meyer, winner of the Congressional Medal of Honor, retorted, “Hey, Ron Paul, have you lost your mind? That sword protected your freedom.”
Of course, “that sword” was part of an organized military force and under the direction of competent members of the military. Not, some bozo who wants to take his gun to church!
