In the midst of tremendous fury on the part of Egyptians toward former President Hosni Mubarak, a court case was winding its way through the legal system against four editors who were charged with making insulting remarks about Mubarak. Incredible as it might seem, the Cairo Appeals Court rejected the law suit against four newspaper editors who were convicted by a lower court of “publishing false information likely to disturb public order.” However, even though voiding prison sentences the four were forced to pay fines! And, Ibrahim Elssa, was sentenced to six months in jail for publishing false information about the health of former president Mubarak. On which planet are members of this court living? Hundreds of thousands of Egyptians were shouting insulting remarks about Mubarak and many referred to his health.

This is an excellent example of when courts are behind the times–way, way, far behind, if we might say!!
