Israel Air Force Hit Iranian Weapons In Syria

September 12th, 2007 by Fred Stopsky · No Comments

There are reports the recent Israel flyover in Syria was aimed at blasting Iranian weapons which were reportedly on their way to Hizbullah. It also appears Israel planes took out a joint Syria-Iran missile site and razed it to the ground. The weapons may have come from North Korea which continues selling whatever weapons it has to the highest bidder. Syria is contemplating how to respond to the Israel attack.

In light of continued rocket attacks on Israel which Hamas has supported, there is little doubt the Israel government is going to do something. Prime Minister Olmert is under pressure to avoid a dramatic attack in the Gaza strip which can only enhance the prestige of Hamas and hurt President Abbas. It is a dilemma for Israel — can it restrain itself or must there be immediate retaliation for the rocket attack. Isn’t it about time Arab nations like Saudi Arabia and Egypt laid down a blunt warning to Hamas to halt these attacks and enter into negotiation or lose financial and military support?
