Senator John McCain is a fighting man. After his plane was shot down in Vietnam, McCain endured torture and brutality but maintained his fighting spirit. He wants action in Egypt, he wants action in Iraq, and he certainly wants action against President Putin. President Obama cancelled a meeting with Putin, but this does not satisfy the fighting man from the west. Unfortunately, for Obama he made clear there was no personal anger toward Putin, they simply were not on the same page regarding Mr. Snowden or human rights. Sorry, that is not tough enough for a tough guy. Canceling a meeting over Snowden, was merely a “symbolic” act. As far as McCain is concerned, “he’s an old KGB colonel that has no illusions about our relationship, does not care about a relationship with the United States, continues to oppress his people, continues to suppress the media and continues to act in an autocratic and unhelpful fashion.” We agree, but so what should we do?
I assume John McCain would like to do SOMETHING. Drop a bomb? Challenge Putin to a wrestling match? Curse him? I am not exactly clear what John wants. Of course, he is never satisfied as to what the president does in any aspect of life. After President Obama rejected maintaining US troops in Iraq unless there were guarantees they would only be subject to US military law, and the Iraqi government refused to budge on this issue, John agreed with the President only to blast him for leaving Iraq!
