Lebanese Political Turmoil

The Lebanese constitution provides that Christians will nominate the president of the nation while the prime minister will be a Muslim. Of course, when writing that into the constitution, no one realized what would happen if Christians and Muslim argued within their own groups as to which person would be president or prime minister. Christian elements of the March 14 movement wish to make the decision as to who will be president. Obviously, other Christians in Lebanon have differing ideas. In the midst of this confusion, the Lebanese army is still fighting Muslim insurgents who are holed up in a Palestinian refugee camp. The Lebanese army has been promising for a month to wipe out these terrorists.
