Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is not frightened by threats and warnings from the western world concerning nuclear development. He told cheering crowds, “this nation will not retreat one iota from the path it is going. ” He meant the path to nuclear weapon development. Of course, Mahmoud insists his nation is not developing nuclear weapons and any such claims are simply Israel manipulating the world media. Of course, the Iranian president is under tremendous pressure from Ayatollah Khamenei who has made clear power lies in his hands. What else is Mahmoud to do but shout defiance in order to prove he obeys orders.
On the other hand, perhaps there is some sense in Iranian actions. Ahmadinejad noted with some common sense, “the Iranian nation is wise. It won’t build two bombs against 20,000(nuclear) bombs you have.” The UN IAEA insists Iran is building atomic bombs, but Iran continues to deny such action.
The bottom line is that Iranian leaders must know Israel has bombs and will use them if any action is taken against their nation. Is this an example of a stand off?
