Edward Snowden may not desire to return to his native America after assuming responsibility for informing the world about the American love affair with snooping into the lives of Americans. The former technical assistant for the CIA who worked for the National Security Agency is presently in Hong Kong, hopefully far away from an angry government which enjoys spying but does not want anyone spying on it. Snowden gave up a $200,000 a year job because he loves the United States. “I understand that I will be made to suffer for my actions, but I will be satisfied if the federation of secret law, unequal pardona nd irresistible executive powers that rule the world that I love are revealed even for an instant.” He made clear the issue is not revealing documents, the issue is what the American government is doing in the name of –freedom.
Snowden copied documents at his NSA office in Hawaii and then gave them to the media. We expect the Attorney General will shortly develop a case which proves that Osama bin Laden was able to conduct his activities due to documents revealed by Snowden. OK, so he was dead, but the principle still exists that our government can spy on Americans as long as it spies in the name of National Security and love of freedom.
Ironically, Snowden had to go to Hong Kong because the US government could not get him extradited. Who would believe that an area controlled by the Chinese Communist government is a haven for democracy!!
