Missile Dueling Leads Nowhere

There are times when members of military forces believe the world has nothing better to do than get involved in who can build better missiles. For some strange reason, the US has gotten itself involved in developing missile bases in eastern Europe whose goal would be to shoot down any from Iran or North Korea. The Russian military does not want missile bases on its border.

In 1962, President John Kennedy faced down Russian missiles in Cuba. Today, it is the Russians who threaten to face down American missiles in Poland. Russian Chief of Staff Nikolai Marakov warned: “A decision to use destructive force pre-emptively will be taken if the situation worsens.”

The solution is rather simple and the Russian government has offered a simple compromise. Russia and US and NATO forces should jointly operate missile bases. Case close, problem solved.
