The Conservative government of Prime Minister David Cameron has made clear to the United States government that it does not believe military action against Iran is appropriate at this juncture in time. Downing Street said: “we are working closely with the US with regard to UK bases but the government does not think military action is the right course of this point in time.” David Cameron made clear to the government of Israel it is important to display restraint and avoid rushing into military action.
The UK government has bluntly told the United States that it will not allow any of its miltary bases to be used in conjunction with an attack on Iran. There is some evidence the Cameron government does not want to be told if Israel or the US launches an attack. The British people were sucked into an American expedition in Iraq which turned out to be based on lies and there is no desire to repeat that mistake.
