This is the hundredth anniversary of the beginning of World War I which resulted in the deaths of over twenty million people. Among the areas which suffered tremendously during this conflict was what is now termed, the Ukraine. It was the scene of brutal fighting between Russian and German soldiers, but after Russia left the war, it became the center of a civil war in Russia which led to the death of thousands. During World War II at least three or more million died in the Ukraine as German and Russian troops fought as well as the murder of at least a million Jews by German soldiers. So, it is no surprise in 2014 to witness additional fighting and dying in the Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin was behind a separatist attempt to break off eastern Ukraine from the main government. Putin supplied “separatists” with money, troops and equipment. But, reality finally sunk into the brain of Putin that his actions were leading to economic sanctions and billions of dollars were being taken out of Russia by frightened businessmen.
So, Putin wants: separation of Ukraine into regions, and the right of eastern Ukrainians to separate and become allies of Mother Russia. But, Putin understands this must policy must be conducted in secret. However, newly elected President Petro Poroshenko is not lying down before the threat of separation. He has ordered a full scale attack on separatists. Unfortunately, the Ukraine army is not the best in the world so things are getting bloody. Putin wants a cease fire, Poroshenko wants a surrender. The end result will depend on how financially difficult it is for Russia to handle this problem. If money flows out of Russia, and businessmen do not flow in billions, then Putin must depart the rich black earth of the Ukraine.
The end result will depend on business interests, not the people of Ukraine!
