The ongoing saga of Israel settlements in Palestinian areas which results in seizing land from those who are not Jews goes on and on. Over a hundred Jewish settlements are on the West Bank, and even those deemed to be “illegal” by the Israel government are not being dismantled. There are voices calling for solving this problem by creating a state of Israel which includes the West Bank. Of course, this raises the sticky problem that if Palestinians are now part of Israel do they enjoy the right of voting in Israel elections?
There is another solution, why not create two levels of citizenship in Israel, one for Jews and one for non-Jews? Some might cite history in which Jews lived in European and Muslim nations as second class citizens, but when Jews are denied rights, the world must fight for Jews, when Palestinians are denied rights, it is simply God’s will.
We could have two states but that would mean actually abiding by international law and we know when the Israel government is confronted by such mundane issues like “international law”they understand that such things are part of historic anti-Semitism.
We conclude with an excerpt from the Israel declaration of independence which called for a Jewish state that “ensures complete equality of social and political rights to all its inhabitants irrespective of religion, race or sex.” I am certain defenders of the current Netanyahu government understand that Israel’s founders were self-hating Jews!
