There are pundits who note the absence of any members of the Pakistan military forces in the raid which resulted in the death of Osama bin Laden as evidence the US government does not trust their ally in southeast Asia. President Asif Ali Zardari made clear in his speech yesterday that his nation was an important cog in the operation that resulted in killing the head of al-Qaeda. “Although the events of Sunday were not a joint operation,” noted Zadari, Pakistan DID play a role. Apparently, its role in the operation was to steer clear of any involvement in capturing or killing Osama bin Laden, and all reports prove Zardari is correct, the Pakistan military did its role by remaining clear of those involved in the action. Of course, the Taliban issued an announcement making clear they will seek retribution and this means killing a few people in Pakistan.
Zardari did lose his wife, Benazir to militants, but since her death he has worked to the fullest extent in making certain the Taliban are provided with plenty of daily comforts and that al-Qaeda focuses on the main enemy-India. Please rest assured President Zardari will do everything in his power to make certain corrupt officials are not placed in harm’s way and that terrorists are provided with comforts in oder to ensure no violence occurs in his nation.
