Parenting Is Not Work Says Court

December 7th, 2009 by Fred Stopsky · No Comments

The Swedish Supreme Administrative court ruled that being a parent is not classified as engaged in work. A Malmo woman who wanted to collect unemployment benefits was told to go find a “real job” and quit pretending that she was working by raising children and caring for a home. The court also applied the same principle to those who work in homeless shelters. Parents were also told even if their child has special needs requiring a parent’s daily aid, the parent could not claim to be working– like the rest of the world.

I assume none of the people who wrote this silly brief has raised children. An adultl raising children is a -social worker, psychologist, educator, cook, maid, etc.. and this ie done virtually the entire day and night. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if parents could also claim unemployment benefits!
