Good news from Burma is that its leaders are moving toward further democracy within their nation. Bad news is that poppy production is rising and given Burma’s new connections to the outside world one can assume it will be easier to get the poppy into the hands of millions of American poppies. The Burma government is attempting to pursue the same failed policies of most nations by destroying poppy fields and angering farmers.
We have a proposal. We suggest that world governments organize a massive fund which would purchase poppy wherever it is grown. Once all poppy is purchased then hold a massive burning fiesta. OR, why not just legalize drugs, offer them at low cost on provision the person enters a drug rehabilitation program.
