It has now become clear to me why I have wasted my time by being a college professor instead of a policeman in the state of Hawaii. Hawaiian police are begging the state legislature not to change a law which they regard as vital to the pursuit of criminals. The law allows policemen and undercover agents to sleep with any and all prostitutes if engaged in pursuit of a crime. Of course, if they catch someone who is engaged in prostitution the person can not be arrested if they are members of the Hawaii police department. Let me get this straight:
1. A man goes to a house of prostitution and has sex with a prostitute. Off to jail.
2. A man goes to a house of prostitution and has sex with a prostitute. Off to home if a cop.
I have a hunch that in just about any city in America many prostitutes engage in sex with cops because the alternative is winding up in jail. I guess the police of Hawaii simply have made legal what is allegedly illegal in America.
