PSTD Or Simply Not OK?

The tragedy of Sergeant Robert Bales has no simple conclusion. He committed a terrible crime for which one can not “explain away.” Yes, he had four deployments, yes, he was wounded, yes, he witnessed and experienced horrible sights, but in the end, there is no excuse for killing innocent women and children. During the coming years, writers, psychologists, theologians, and countless others will offer explanations for these brutal murders, but, what Bales did was NOT unusual for those who lived in the 20th century. After the end of WWII, trials were held to hold those accountable for the incredible horrors of the war. Unfortunately, the Iraq War and the Afghanistan War, have not led to any such trials forBates must stand trial, but what about George Bush, Dick Cheney or Don Rumsfeld?
