Turkish Prime Minister Recep Erdogan has been slowly, but carefully working toward establishing greater government control over universities. We can expect changes that would end their secular nature. He recently visited Ankara University only to be met with angry students. They are tired of “security measures” which require each student to show his ID when entering university ground and have their name checked off.
Erdogan’s security force pepper sprayed students and then arrested several. Question: does the university belong to students or government employees?
