Jan Bjorklund, head of Sweden’s Liberal Party, raised questions as to the amount of knowledge a government should be able to obtain regarding the private lives of its citizens. “the liberal position must be that the individual’s right to a private sphere should be protected.” He agreed there is extensive difficulty in modern society protecting private life information but felt there must be further efforts to protect that aspect of individual rights.
One can readily agree with Mr. Bjorklund’s position. The real problem is has technology out-run the ability of government to control what is made available to the public concerning the private lives of citizens.
