Christopher Dorner spent his life in the Los Angeles Police Department and, to the best of our knowledge was a competent officer. He became engaged in a conflict with his field training officer who he accused of kicking a suspect, Christopher Gettler, a schizophrenic with severe dementia. Captain Phil Tingrides, who chaired a board that stripped Dorner of his badge over this incident, claims Dorner “feels he can make allegations for injustice and justify killing people.” Dorner was fired from the police department and now is engaged in war against his former comrades. He has vowed to use “eveery it of msall arms training, demolition, ordinance and survival training” to kill members of the LAPD.
Reality is the LAPD has a history of racial insensitivity which has resulted in numerous complaints about its officers. We have no knowledge whether Dorner’s complaint about his superior was accurate or not, but he WAS attempting to defend a civilian against possible abuse. Why did this result in firing Dorner is a question yet to be answered.
