Republican Senator Scott Brown got elected from Massachusetts by a fluke and he well knows most people in the state lean toward the Democratic party. Last week he was asked his views on the deficit reduction plan of Congressman Ryan and responded; “the leaders will bring forward(Ryan’s) budget, and I will vote for it, and it will fail.” I assume his aides did some checking and discovered most elderly people were shocked at the Ryan concept of Medicare. Yesterday, Senator Brown offered another view on Ryan, the darling of Tea Party activists. “While I applaud Ryan for getting the conversation started, I cannot support his specified plan and therefore will vote ‘no’ on his budget.? ” He finally confronted what any economist knows, –the Ryan plan for government support does not keep pace with the rate of inflation so as the years roll by, elderly folk will pay more and more for their health care.
We suspect, there are other Republicans who will awake one day and realize that denouncing Obama ideas on health may arouse support from Tea Party followers, but for those who depend on government health care, it is a loser.
