A bipartisan group of congressmen, including Ron Paul, issued a statement urging the Obama administration to end the war in Afghanistan. They noted eleven years had gone by and still the Taliban are attacking, killing and now our “allies” are murdering American and NATO troops. Rep. Walter Jones, speaking for the group argued “when our friends become our enemies, it’s time to pull the plug.”
The essence of this group’s argument is attempts to train, to foster honesty in government, to stimulate economic development simply have not worked. As Jones sarcastically commented about the eleven year time span, “you can train a monkey to ride a bicycle in that length of time.”
Congressmen agreed that departure of US troops would leave a pose vacuum. Perhaps, the monkeys can handle that one. They can throw bananas.
