Pentagon officials are rethinking the entire strategy of having American forces leave Iraq some time next year. There is growing fear the departure would create a power vacuum that could result in conflict between the various factions which currently vie for power. Current plans call for the presence of several thousand American troops to guard our facilities and embassy and personnel working in Iraq.
