Silvio Is Trapped And Angry

These are not good days for Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi who is either confronting a judge in court or members of his coalition which are furious at their nation’s involvement in a war against Muammar Gaddafi. Umberto Bossi(what an appropriate name) demanded that Berlusconi cease Italian cooperation with NATO forces in the bombing campaign against the Libyan dictator. There are at least 30,000 Tunisian refugees on Italian soil and the Northern League partner is telling Silvio to knock off the war or they will knock off participation in his coalition government. On the other hand, Berlusconi does not wish to anger French President Sarkozy or Barack Obama who want him part of efforts to get rid of a thug dictator.

War in Libya is only the tip of Berlusconi’s iceberg. He is currently in court facing three charges of criminal activity-tax fraud, bribery of a witness, and sex with an underage prostitute. Silvio complains “when government leaders are humiliated having to spend ours in court while the important international events are taking place.” In his view, sex with a teenage girl assists his performance as leader of Italy. It raises his spirits, it makes him feel young, and it improves his ability to lead the world–which political leader in which country of the world can match his time in court??
