Special Forces Not Special Armies!

A decade ago when terror groups blew up American buildings on 9/11 former President George Bush ordered the armed forces to invade Afghanistan. When bombers mainly from Saudi Arabia did the bombing our former president decided to invade Iraq. Yesterday, a Navy SEAL operatin freed two Western hostages held by terror groups without loss of life to those in the raid and some deaths to those holding hostages. According to accounts, MH-60 Black Hawk helicopters swooped in, SEALS stepped out, confronted heavily armed terrorists and apparently wiped most of them out in order to free the hostages. No American casualties were reported.

Perhaps, we are witnessing the dawn of a new American approach to handling terrorist groups. The use of Special Forces ends possibilities of invading foregin lands, having American troops battle in foreign cities and makes less likely these forces will create international problems of cultural differences.

Smaller is not only better, it is not only less expensive, and most important of all, it is more successful.
