Ten long years ago the dynamic trio of Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld sent our young men and women into wars with flags flying and loud protestations of “democracy” for the world. They marched into one horror after another. They witnessed friends dying due to IED or ambushes and learned that many in other societies did not seek our idea of “democracy.” The dynamic trio is now comfortably residing back in their homes making millions in speaking engagements of membership on Boards of Directors. Alas, such is not the case for those sent into battle.
A federal appeals court said it would reconsider the appeal of two veterans groups who accuse the VA of shoddy medical treatment for those who suffered emotional damage due to combat. Veterans for Common Sense and Veterans United for Truth want a quicker process to handle requests for psychological assistance and classification of those seeking to have their emotional wounds treated in an expeditious manner. Post traumatic stress disorder can not “wait”for a panel to decide one has been placed under stress. Suicide rates are the highest in history and there is need for revamping the process of handling claims dealing with PTSD and possible suicide.
