Sometimes it is difficult realizing the war in Afghanistan is now entering its second decade. Once again Taliban forces attacked an airport, killed two US Marines and a few British soldiers along with destroying six jet planes on the ground. Fifteen insurgents were able to infiltrate an airport and engage in a rampage of death and destruction before being killed.
It is time to accept reality. The people of Afghanistan must govern their own fate.We can provide assistance but we can no longer provide military personnel. There is no doubt within the coming months some Muslim cleric will arouse anger because a nut case in the US or Europe made a silly film. People like President Morsi of Egypt will insist as a loyal Muslim he cannot allow insults to his Prophet. And, death and destruction will continue.
It is time to leave the stage of action.
