Terrorist Plot Smashed In Germany

German authorities arrested three militants suspected of planning attacks upon American personnel in Germany as well a potential attack on the Ramstein Air Base. Two Germans and one Turk were arrested after being followed for over a year. They recently obtained 1,500 pounds of hydrogen peroxide which could be mixed with other materials to create 1,200 pounds of TNT. The men were members of the Islamic Jihad Union and had been trained in Pakistan. They most probably were targeting discos, restaurants and bars frequented by US personnel.

This incident demonstrates that effective police work can deter many terrorist activities without abridging the rights of citizens. It is also noteworthy of mentioning the men were trained in Pakistan, our ally in the fight against terrorism.
