Terrorists somehow penetrated a special anti-terror base and killed at least 15 soldiers while wounding over a dozen. Those killed belonged to a Special Services Group whose task was identifying terrorists and killing them. The killing raises questions as to how secure are Pakistan bases to outside terror groups. Ordinarily, a commando unit is comprised of elite troops who are highly skilled in dealing with terrorist forces, but in this case terrorists apparently got onto the base and killed the commandos while they were eating breakfast.
Incidents such as these suggest Pakistan faces internal issues as well as external. It is difficult to image terrorists getting onto a guarded military base without assistance from someone on the inside. President Musharraf continues confronting internal as well as external threats.
