A group of Walmart workers known as OUR Walmart are on strike and urging other workers to join in a protest against America’s leading merchant of poverty. Walmart workers receive low wages, all too often work is outsourced to lower paying manufacturers and within the department store one must be an obedient and polite supporter of reducing prices by reducing wages. Yes, many of us shop at Walmart because of its lower prices and thus encourage this powerful American business to continue exploiting its workers.
The sad reality of America is death of its union movement which has resulted in lowering wages for those in the middle class and ensuring that millions of hard working people never receive a wage which enables purchasing a home and leading a traditional middle class life. Walmart has rewarded many in America with lower prices, but the price we pay does not reward those in the middle class.
