The shooting of 14 year old Malala Yousufzai by Taliban thugs shocked the people of Pakistan and for a few days even those in power got the courage to denounce an attack on a child. The head of Pakistan’s army expressed some angry words and gave support for some sort of action. Of course, when the time came to discuss “action” those who run the armed forces became rather silent and vague as to what might or should be done to get the killers of this child. General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani thundered: ‘we refuse to bow before terror, we will fight, regardless of the cost.” Wow, some powerful words, but will there be any action as a follow up?
Within a few days leaders agreed shooting 14 year old girls was not very nice, but they did not want any action occurring in their part of Pakistan.Pakistani politician Imran Khan, former cricket star, did warn that “military action is not a solution.” He believes blame for the attack belongs to the hated United States of America. I guess the solution is to make speeches, blame the US and ignore the Taliban!
