It is Christmas in Iran and its clergy are seeking to offer presents to those in the nation which is based on principles of justice and humanity. Of course, when it comes to humanity, our beloved clerics who alone know what God or whoever is up in the sky desires care about the people of Iran like few religious figures in the world. Actually, Iranians are blessed with these wonderful compassionate men of the cloth, or whatever.
Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani was convicted several years ago for being connected to the murder of her husband. Of course, in Iran when one is accused it is almost a guarantee they are guilty. She was sentenced to death by stoning, but under pressure the clerics relented. However, the spirit of the season is now even impacting Iranian Muslim clerics. They have decided, after great deliberation to reconsider the sentence. As one put it, “we are waiting to see whether we can carry out the execution of a person sentenced to stoning by hanging.”
Talk about compassion! Of course, we suggest to these caring clerics the idea of simply throwing her to the dogs, a lot cheaper than hiring someone to hang her!
